Sanford, FL 32771
At home in Jacksonville, there are commercials on the TV for Red Robbin. Being the hamburger lover that I am, I wondered if I missed this spot in my travels around the city, so I Googled RR my location, not even close. So I was a little miffed that I was being teased with I burger and bottomless fries I could only dream about. Well I took care of that this weekend. Visiting my children who have a Red Robbin in the area, the good mother that I am, took them to dinner, at the Sanford location. Fun place with some unusual decor
Once we were seated we noticed they have the new electronic menu/waitperson device on the tables. So you can order everything via the machine, or just call the waitperson to the table. We called, and Manny arrived. I like interaction, so I will be anti device for a while.
Round of drinks, and check out the menu
To start we chose the Pretzel bites, warm, soft pretzel bites served alongside beer cheese dip. Nice and salty, not crisp like a pretzel soft bites.
Some of us were eating healthy and others not so much, here are the healthy choices. Chicken Wrap, sliced, grilled chicken breast, Parmesan, tomatoes, romaine lettuce and Caesar dressing wrapped in a fresh spinach tortilla. I do believe the bottomless fries, may mask some to the health value of this dish. It was packed with chicken, and just enough dressing to moisten all the goodness inside.
Next the Whisky River BBQ chicken, grilled chicken breast basted with bourbon-infused Whiskey River BBQ sauce and topped with melted Cheddar, crispy onion straws, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. Everything about this sandwich was appealing, chicken tender and moist. Sadly the fries were cold, we did order a new batch, but the sandwich was finished by the time they arrived. Points off for that.
Now for the reason we came here. The gourmet burgers, are the way to go for flavor and size.
Smoke and Pepper, topped with black-pepper bacon and extra-sharp Cheddar on a toasted ciabatta bun with house-made Smoke & Pepper ketchup. This paired nicely with the Stella that was recommended on the menu. The bottomless steak fries were herb, Parmigiano cheese and by far the best choice of the fries we had.
I went with the Black and Bleu, sautéed, blackened portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, house-made Bleu cheese sauce and Bleu cheese crumbles on a toasted ciabatta bun with Dijon sauce. It was everything I had hoped it would be, juicy, full with cheese and the warm ciabatta was the perfect addition.
Everyone was full and happy, there is nothing not to like about this place. Better than most chain or “fern bars” the burgers are the bomb. It is highly recommended.
Gather up your besties, the kids, the grands and make it a destination, it will be fun.
