So the gang was in the mood for Sushi this week, Kazu one of our favorite spots was the preferred destination. Clean, simple but upscale interior, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable staff make for the perfect experience.
Having eaten here many times in the past, it is safe to say the fish is always fresh, presentations, many of the dishes look like food art and portions are more than ample. Due to the size of our party, we had made arrangements before hand on our selections. Here are a few of the dishes from the menu beginning with the Coconut Curry Soup. A spicy mixture of sweet silky coconut milk, combined with shrimp, red onions and cilantro. One of the favorite and best selling soup on the menu.
Next up we were served a most tasty Crab Cheese Wonton, – Crab meat, cream cheese, scallion, celery sweet Thai chili sauce. Not normally a fan of these little items, they were the exception, very crisp the stuffing not soggy as experienced on other tastings.
Our third choice was an interesting Tuna Guacamole Tortilla dish, comprised of Ahi Tuna Poke with a very spicy Avocado dip, that had just enough Wasabi to make it interesting. Very nice
My favorite dish of the night was the Sashimi sampler of the fresh fish of the week. This indeed was a work of art. Everyone gathered around to snap pictures. Then quickly decimated the entire boat. Fish was so very fresh, a combination of Tuna, Salmon, Yellow Tail, Scallop, Octopus and generous portions of Ginger and Wasabi to mix.
For our last dish arrainged on a large sharing plate we chose the following roll options for our meal; Golden Dream Roll – Shrimp Tempura, Steamed Lobster, Spicy White Tuna, Cucumber, and Avocado inside, with sliced Mango outside. Wrapper in soy paper, with red and black tobiko on top as well as the Spectrum Roll – Tuna, salmon, yellowtail & avocado inside, with tuna & salmon outside, lightly torched with Japanese mayo & spicy mayo. Topped with tobiko, rich crunchy & scallion, drizzled with a sweet wasabi sauce. Satisfying on every level, the thin cut mango created a nice balance for the sweet softness of the white tuna.
As a treat our host honored us with the most sought after Blue Fin Fatty Tuna. If you have not experienced this particular item, please please do. Smooth, salty with a delicate flavor is sure to be a favorite of Sushi lovers
For dessert most selected the Green Tea Fried Ice Cream. I am not a fan of this dish so I indulged in a scoop of the basic Green Tea, but those who chose the Fried raved about how good it was. Who am I to judge? It really did look very appetizing.
We all voted this one of the better Sushi dinners we have shared in a while. Prices are reasonable, the fish is some of the freshest in town, there is really nothing not to like about this place.
Gather your besties, and have dinner or pop in for lunch and sample one the the many menu choices or go for the Bento Box an excellent way to sample more than one item.
