We had such a pitiful experience last Sunday at brunch, we decided to take our chances on a Saturday brunch experience. One of the places where often dine that never fails to please is the Blind Rabbit on King St. Chef Jason Swank and his merry band of food wizards create some of the most amazing dishes in town in a comfortable upscale environment.
Offering brunch on Saturday and Sunday as well as regular menu items, there is something for everyone, that will please even the most picky diner. There are specialty cocktails, bottomless Bloody Mary and Mimosa and a respectable array of local brewed beers.
We started with a Mimosa and the St Germaine Carafe, a combo of St Germaine and Champagne, with sparkling water. A light refreshing libation
Our first choice for sharing, Poutine, hand-Cut Fries, Pork Belly, Tasso Ham, Cheese Curds, Gravy and poached egg. I did ask for the egg to be served on the side, no egg lover am I. This dish was rich and tasty, the gravy spicy from the Tasso and cheese curds soft and warm.
This is the egg for the Poutine, my companion happily dipped her fries inside the egg, me I tried not to watch.
We also shared an order of Fried Green tomatoes served with, Peach Habanero Hot Sauce, Goat Cheese, Heirloom Tomato Salsa, Georgia Cane Syrup fried to a crisp firm consistency. These were just short of perfect.
For our last choice my all time favorite Shrimp and Grits, a mixture of Spicy Marinated Shrimp, Creamy Stone Ground Goat Cheese Grits, Corn, Andouille Sausage, Red Bell Peppers, Peach Habanero Pan Sauce. The Goat Cheese Grits are especially tasty and smooth, Shrimp large tender with just a hint of heat.
We voted this outing a total success, Service, presentation, quality, and taste were on point. Blind Rabbit never fails to deliver, we have been here on many occasions and I have only positive kudos to share with you the reader.
We chose not to indulge in dessert, but I do encourage you to try the adult milk shakes, they are to die for. You can order them with or with out alcohol…
There is a sister Blind Rabbit at the beach. We did try it one time, but never felt compelled to go back. The food was good, but there was something about the venue it self we just did not like. My recommendation try them both then pick your spot. This is a restaurant you will find yourself wanting to returning to often.
