Atlantic Beach, FL 32233
Breakfast is often a throw away meal for me, usually a smoothie or some yogurt if I am home, but every once in a while I feel the need to have something else. That need struck today, so I phoned up a bestie and headed to the beach.
Beach Diner, with multiple locations around town, the Atlantic Beach spot is the closest so we headed off. Packed as usual on a weekend morning, we took a shot and scored a seat at the counter without waiting.
Menu is what you would expect, eggs, pancakes, waffles, the bubba special section for larger plates, house favorites, mostly Benedict offerings, favorites and a kiddie selection. I was going simple, my companion perhaps not so much.
He chose the Eggs on the Bayou, Poached Eggs on grilled English Muffins topped with Bacon, Crabmeat, hollandaise Sauce, diced Tomatoes and Green Onions and the home fries.
I am notorious for my dislike of any egg with a soft yolk so I had to get the shot before he got close to releasing the yellow gold.
He liked everything about the dish, eggs not over or under cooked, ample portion of crab and fresh tasty hollandaise. Thumbs up for his dish.
I would have to give mine the same big thumb up. Simple Western Omelet, cheese grits, and side order of crispy corned beef hash.
Omelette, cooked well inside, with a nice balance of peppers and onions, grits tasty and warm enough to melt the cheese, and the toast buttered as requested still warm and soft when my plate arrived. Everything in balance to begin the day.
Same with the hash, cooked on the grill to a lovely crisp brownness, some of the best around.
So starting our day with meal that made us both happy was a good omen. Get a bestie, or several besties together, head to Atlantic Beach, or whichever location is your’s and start you day in the best possible way.
