Jacksonville, FL 32205 Although many of my friends, come here and think it’s the best place ever I have never been interested, but finally caved in this week. I must admit I have done myself a disservice, my experience was most enjoyable. I am not a big baked items person, but they do have so much more to choose from, salads, quiche, sandwiches, croissants, plus all those sinful baked goods. Clean not over decorated, white picnic tables, funky art on the walls, bright colors there is nothing to not like.
One can walk through to the adjoining Bold Bean coffee shop if your feeling more like having espresso or latte and bring it back to drink with your food. It really is a perfect marriage.
It was an easy choice for me, bagel with lox, arugula and chili oil. Earlier in the week I indulged in a bagel lox combination, so it was compare contrast time.
The dish was stunning when it arrived, presentation thoughtful, well-balanced.
It tasted as good as it looked. Bagel, warm, fresh chewy as bagels should be. The arugula brought a welcoming peppery flavor, and just a hint of spice from the chili oil. I was most impressed. The only complaint, was the size, bagel was smaller than expected.
My friend was not being very adventurous, ordering a soft fried egg, with cheese on the same kind of delicious bagel. She was quite pleased when the warm yolk squished out the sides. I wanted to leave the table.
Still finding room for more I ordered a savory Monkey bread muffin stuffed with cheese and bacon. This was most delicious, so much so I purchased one to go.
A few more items, I eyed were the Cheese Pretzel Bread and the Apple Pie. I managed to control myself, barely, I know now I will be back.
So I must admit, I am converted. It’s a hike across town to come here, but well worth the drive. Breakfast served 7 am to 11 am lunch 11 to 2 Weekends are packed, and the specials run out quickly. Bring the crew sitting at the picnic tables make for great conversation.
