Jacksonville, FL 32256 Lunch today was a nice find on a whim. Pizza was the meal of the day and we were questing for something close yet to be discovered, I remembered seeing this spot and off we went. A build your own format, which I surprisingly enjoy, I like seeing my food assembled. Uncle Maddio’s is an Atlanta Based franchise which is locally owned and run. This is a plus for me, knowing someone who lives here has invested their time and money in the community. Overhead menu boards display all the options, along with additional signage around the store.
Pick the size of your pie, individual, medium or extra large, there is also a gluten free option, which I question in this environment if you medically need a gluten free. Build your own pie, or select from eleven signature pizzas listed on the menu board, and if for any reason pizza is not your thing there are Foldwiches think Italian pita. House Salads and made in house desserts round out the options.
After you pick the toppings move on down to the drink, dessert area, pay get your number and the food will be delivered.
This is the meal for us. First up a Greek Salad, mixed greens, red onions, black olives, banana peppers, roma tomatoes, feta cheese and homemade Greek dressing this was large enough for 2 people to share. Every veggie fresh and crisp.
The pizza of choice signature pie, Spicy Italian, tomato basil sauce, mozzarella, spicy Italian sausage, red onions, mushrooms, banana peppers and fresh basil. I requested it to be cooked crispy and it was.
I was extremely pleased with this pie, the high quality spicy sausage was delightful, fresh basil flavor came through, large slices of mushrooms, good balance of cheese. This was a perfect pie, filled with flavor.
Dessert came in the form of a fresh stuffed Cannoli and a Chocolate Chip cookie. I watched as the Cannoli was filled, a delightful sight. The cookie fresh from the oven, chocolate goodness.
There was just too much food to finish, so pizza, and the cookie bagged up to go. The condiment station, houses bags pre loaded with paper plates, which is a nice touch.
So the take away, Maddio’s offers an overall tasty product, in a fun, friendly environment. Thursday nights you can bring the crew in for trivia, Friday and Saturday live music. A perfect spot for families, the lunch crowd or after work get together.
