Neptune Beach, FL 3226 This may be one of he beaches best seafood spots, the owners of the fine-dining spot Marker 32 and Palm Valley Fish Camp, Ben and Liza Groshell bring same quality to North Beach Fish Camp. Relaxed seating inside and nice outside tables, add to the casual beach ambiance plus it’s fun people watching.
Today I had my trusty companion Winston with me, food thoughts are all my own.
I started with Fried Gator Tail with Cowgill’s Datil Pepper Aioli, this added a well needed kick to the little bites, the meat sweet and tender, not over cooked. I did think the pieces were small for the price.
Next the Ceviche of the Day, today being Shrimp. This was a much improved dish. Large pieces of well marinated shrimp, firm, spicy in a zesty mix of tomatoes, green onions, cucumbers nicely spiced. The dog liked the shrimp as well.
I selected one of the baskets and combined Blackened Shrimp and Fried Oysters. The basket includes French Fries, Slaw and Hush Puppies, no fries for me but the server brought me two slaw. The dish when it arrived was brimming with beautiful dark spicy shrimp, tails removed which I always appreciate. and crispy lightly breaded Oysters, firm, but still moist in the middle. I ate the same dish last week at the Julington Creek Fish Camp and it was almost identical, perfect flavorful, well presented, Slaw was fresh, with a slightly sweet taste that I prefer to the commercial vinegar based slaw.
I will mention, trusty dog had his own Bacon Angus Beef Burger minus the roll and fries, with a side of veggies. He devoured it.
The take away, I frequent all the “Fish Camp” restaurants, knowing from past experience that the meal will be top-notch, with the freshest food available, and locally sourced when possible. Service stellar. I would encourage you and you besties to do the same. It’s summer time make it a day at the beach, then stop in for a casual lunch or dinner.
