Whole Foods Market is one of my favorite places to shop when I am planning something wonderful for friends and family. I have also attended several wine tasting events, and dinner tastings. When we learned they were introducing the new fall menu we had to go give it a taste test.
If you ae not a regular at this store you may have missed the wine, beer bar stationed by the bakery. Close to the food stations you can make a plate or order from the menu then sit at the bar and have a nice wine or one of the many local and non-local craft beers. There are also an interesting coffee and tea offerings.
After looking over the menu options we selected several small dishes and the featured Rachetta Pizza
Our first choices were the Black Truffle French Fries, Boom Boom Shrimp, and the Boneless Chicken with Thai dipping sauce. Fries served in a mini version of a fry basked, were piping hot, well salted and aromatic with the black truffle oil.
Boom Boom Shrimp large crispy large bite size pieces nicely browned served with a tangy Thai dipping sauce.
The last plate Buffalo Chicken bites, served with a mild flavor, accompanied with rich blue cheese dip and several celery sticks.
The star was the Rachetta Pizza, shaped like a tennis racket the middle consisted of Chicken Tandoori with mango and a well melted mozzarella cheese, the handle stuffed with cheese and generously covered in Italian herbs was more to my liking. The Tandoori was a little too sweet for my taste, but the crust was superb crispy and airy inside. Something we noticed the marinara sauce that accompanied the pizza was right out of the fridge. Not good with a hot crispy Rachetta.
We did no indulge ourselves in any of the three offerings, but did manage to eat several Mochi from the freezer that contains about 10 different flavors. What is Mochi you may ask? It is a Japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice pounded into a paste then molded into shapes. I had the Red Bean and Double Chocolate my companion the same.
If you in the area stop in just for fun, there are some many weird and wonderful items to see, selection is so far beyond anything the local markets offer. Spoil yourself and try something exotic, I highly recommend the Mochi, actually several they are small.
