Jacksonville, FL 32216 I went for a return visit with one of my foodie friends; she had tried this spot a week before and was ready for a return visit, so I tagged along. First impression, nice interior, understated, relaxing vibe, soft lighting that still allowed for easy menu reading, soft music appropriate for the setting played in the background.Insert interior. We were greeted promptly and given menus, and drink orders were taken. As I read always looking for a new dish that wows me; it was evident I was not going to find it here, yet many of my favorites items were listed, so that’s where I went. As we always do we selected several starters for sharing; Golden Pouches, crispy wonton filled with blue crab meat, curry powder, and cream cheese served with a side of sweet chili sauce and an order of the the Pot Stickers The pouches were small, somewhat overcooked, but pleasing to the taste buds. These dumplings quite overcooked, dry with little taste.A bowl of my favorite soup Tom Kha completed our first round. I judge all Thai restaurants on how well I like this particular dish. Perhaps not the best soup I have had, but certainly far better than others I have tasted. For me not quite creamy enough for my liking, as well the lime, lemon grass or cilantro commonly associated with this dish was absent.
Time for the entrees, my friend ordered the same dish she has been raving about for days, the lad na a delightful mixture of wide rice noodles, stir-fried with eggs topped off with broccoli, mushrooms, snow pea pods, baby corn, scallions topped off with a Thai gravy. When ask how spicy she would like her dish she requested a one on the burn scale. My choice the drunken noodles, one of my favorite dishes on any Thai menu this dish is an excellent mixture including wide rice noodles, eggs, onions, jalapenos, red and green peppers, mushrooms and fresh basil, I asked for a four heat level. When the dishes arrived it was quickly evident my friend’s food was way past a one heat scale, generously sprinkled with red pepper flakes. To her credit she tried to eat is but finally it was sent back. The second dish was the charm, perfectly cooked to her liking.
My noodles, perfect in every way, spicy as ordered, fresh vegetables were plentiful, noodles the right texture, chicken tender. I liked everything about this dish.
Overall, it was a satisfactory experience, and I would certainly return for lunch or dinner. My recommendation, give this place a try bring the family or your besties for an evening out
